Fiber Optics Innovation Lab

The research activities of the Fiber Optics Innovation Lab (FOIL) focus on the exploration and further development of optical fibres and their various applications. Since mid-2019, the group has been operating clean room laboratories in the HITec building, where the entire production chain and characterisation of optical glass fibres is mapped. As a core facility, FOIL is anchored in the PhoenixD Cluster of Excellence. In addition, an independent research agenda is pursued within the framework of third-party funded projects.
